Common A2P rejection reasons (and fixes)

If your A2P submission is rejected, the system will tell you why. Here are the most common rejection reasons and how to fix each.

Brand rejections

Reason Fix
EIN doesn't match legal name Verify EIN with IRS records; ensure the business name on file matches exactly
Address can't be verified Use a physical address (not a P.O. Box, not a virtual office). USPS-deliverable address required
Website doesn't exist or is under construction Brand verification requires a live, fully working website with content
Privacy policy missing or doesn't mention SMS Add SMS opt-in language to your privacy policy. Generic privacy policies fail verification

Campaign rejections

Sample messages don't include opt-out Add "Reply STOP to unsubscribe" to every sample
Use case description too vague Be specific: "We send appointment reminders to customers who book through our website" beats "customer communication"
Opt-in mechanism unclear Describe exactly how customers opt in: web form with explicit consent checkbox, etc.
Sample messages reference forbidden content (loans, gambling, cannabis, adult, hate) Remove forbidden content. Some industries face stricter rules
Free-form opt-out doesn't include all required keywords Make sure your real messages can accept STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT, OPT OUT.
Public-facing privacy policy doesn't mention texting Update your privacy policy to specifically mention SMS communication

Forbidden content categories

WARNING — Some industries get stricter enforcement

Cannabis (even legal in your state), gambling, payday loans, adult content, debt collection, and certain political messaging face heightened scrutiny. Some are outright banned from A2P SMS regardless of legality. If you're in one of these industries, contact Intellivizz support before submitting — there are alternative paths that may apply.

Resubmission process

  • Read the rejection reason carefully

  • Fix the underlying issue (privacy policy, sample message, address, etc.)

  • Resubmit — no additional fee for resubmission

  • Allow another 1–7 business days for re-review

  • If rejected a second time for the same reason, contact Intellivizz support
